Meigetsu-in is a garden and temple situated in Kita-Kamakura, Kanagawa. It was founded in 1394 by Norikata Uesugi of the Uesugi clan.
It earned the nickname Ajisai-dera, which means Hydrangea Temple thanks to its beautiful ajisai (hydrangea). These flowers are in full bloom during the month of June, a time when the temple gets extremely crowded.
The famous round window of Meigetsu-in. It seems to be spectacular when it snow or when flowers are in full bloom.
Someone was kind enough to bring him warm clothes in this cold.
When I went there two weeks ago, there was no one else, but it was a cold and dry Winter week day. I really felt it would be extremely beautiful if flowers bloomed in this garden, so I will be sure to go back during the other seasons and report back to you!
