Engaku-ji is one of the most important Zen Buddhist temple in Japan. It was founded in 1282 by Tokimune Hojo and is situated in Kita-Kamakura just near the railway station. This temple also ranks second amongst the five great Rinzai temples of Kamakura (鎌倉五山).

Opening times: 8:00 ~ 17:00 (April – October) / 8:00 ~ 16:00 (November – March)
I went there at the end of the Winter season, just after my visit to the Meigetsu-in Temple. It was a bit chilly but very bearable. There were no movement, no sound. Everything was still and I felt at peace. A must-see if you are in Kita-Kamakura!
